IM A LIGHTWEIGHT
easy to fall, easy to break, With every move my whole world shakes
She raised an eye brow at his response as she just shrugged looking away from him to glance around the busy piazza, “Sono sicuro che sopravviverai.” She had never been one too considerate of others thoughts. She never cared. Every since she was little she convinced herself that whatever else thought about her didn’t matter. So if she came across as a bitch then so be it, just further proved how much they don’t truly know her. She puts up a very solid shell around her. The clan would probably laugh if she told them that when she was very little she’d walk around with a stuffed bunny named Bellissa, meaning fair or lovely one, and she would cuddle on the couch with her brother watching movies; her favorite one being Princess Diaries and after she’d play princess with her brother. That would be quiet the shock to the whole clan. She suspected they already think that she grew up in a tiny dark ran down house and her room was a dungeon and for fun she tortured squirrels. She could tell by the looks on some of their faces they think that her childhood was all darkness which actually it wasn’t. She had a normal childhood. It was pretty happy actually. She never was very good at making friends. But she didn’t get the ‘push everyone away’ attitude till her brother and father died. Before that she just didn’t know how to make friends and that was always a difficult task for her. But she was friendly. She was nice. She always did her best to help. At school she’d volunteer frequently to go first with projects and she’d get along with others. She really wasn't anything abnormal. But others seem to want to depict her as this cold hearted monster from birth that doesn’t know how to give a normal smile and has never laughed a day in her life when as a child she was known for her constant smiles and her bounce back attitude.
Elisabetta tilted her head a moment as she watched him noticing how he was lost in his own thought. She noticed maybe for a second maybe longer that his eyes had a flicker of some emotion. Pain maybe? She wasn’t quite sure but it was something unpleasant she could tell that much. She wasn’t much of a person to press people for information. She would always let people tell her if they so desire. Unless Elisabetta wants it out than she usually takes a more manipulative approach and less caring. She has never been particularly good with people. He finally seemed to snap out of his thoughts at her words and she watched him carefully. She could tell he was just as confused about her as she about him. She didn’t exactly know how to look at him. They almost seem one in the same. Coming from another place without word about their past and both having titles given to them that aren’t exactly positive.
Even though Elisabetta is now for her cold attitude she still has talked to people. They are short and formal conversations for the most part. But she still talks to others in the clan and she’s heard his name mentioned more than once. Often times when she’d sit in the common room or if she was eating and others were at the same time she’d hear a thing or two about him and others and it was always a mix of people saying he was a mystery or he was crazy. She didn’t pay much mind to it though because she couldn’t say much herself. She just as much a mystery as he was. They both seemed to have pasts they weren’t too eager to recall especially to someone else.
Elisabetta noticed he didn’t answer any of her questions. She was actually surprised he stuck around. She was also known for her sharp sarcastic tongue which usually ran people off. They’d get enough of her attitude and just pick up and leave. She usually didn’t mean to be such a smartass but it just came naturally. After years of keeping emotions boxed up and pushing people away in order to keep her past hidden she’s adapted a sharp tongue. She always had had a little bit of sass though. Her brother and she always would be sarcastic with one another. Just sibling fun nothing serious and it just developed. She missed Gabriel. He was always better with people and would give her advice how to make friends and help her out. Usually he’d introduce her to people. He’d give her a hand and help her. But he was no longer here and she was on her own. She felt it was a lie when people say that the ‘dead sticks around’ she felt no presence after father and brothers death; just emptiness. She felt like her heart was torn out of her heart and thrown and fed on by wolves. She had prayed for any sign that he or her father was still with her. But every day and every night was the same empty feeling in her chest. She was hurt so much by the loss she had never cried over it besides when she saw him dead. She’d lay awake at nights and staring at the ceiling wanting to just cry it out so she could go to sleep or move on but she couldn’t even if she tried. She would whisper words up to the ceiling as if they’d reach Gabriel or her father with no avail. Eventually she gave up. Occasionally she sends a prayer up to them but then thinks why they would want to help her. She was the reason they were dead. Moments like those were when she felt absolutely on her own. To her she believed Gabriel and her father hated her and she had to repent properly. She thinks maybe if that happens they’ll send her some sign maybe she’ll feel a relief of some sort. Like she could finally let them rest. But alas no such luck so far.
She looked to the child and the mother and thought briefly about her own experiences of losing her mother in stores and how Gabriel would always have to find her. She loved wandering around as a child and would often find herself not even seeing her mother’s beautiful brown locks or her brothers spiky blond hair and she would get scared out of her wits and start crying till Gabriel would swoop in and take her back to their mother who would take them for ice cream to keep the tears away. Her eyes snapped back to his words and she stayed quiet as she listened to him feeling slightly uncomfortable as he called her out for avoiding his questions and pinning her as the mystery. She was curious for his question as she waited a moment and for once she didn’t have any come back. Elisabetta usually always had some sort of snarky come back or some way of avoid the question. But this one settled unlike any other question. No one had ever asked her. They would usually pick up and leave. She turned her head to look back at the bustling piazza trying to figure out what to say. Part of her wanted to say for him to leave but the other wanted him to stay. She didn’t know what she wanted. Nor did she ever when it came to these situations. She always had a tugging feeling missing the company that had previously been Gabriel. She never had many friends but she didn’t care because she still had Gabriel and now that he’s gone she’s been feeling completely alone and part of her has wanted that void to be filled. But another was too afraid to let someone in. Plus if it was anyone she didn’t want Vladmir. Sometime about him told her not to completely trust him. That he wasn’t one to stick around and since he was so much like her she felt like any information she gave him in the future shed regret. She wasn’t ready to trust him or really anyone.
She finally looked back at him as she said, “You haven’t answered any of my questions either. Either way I feel like you’ll still be coming back. I don’t see you as someone who really leaves once they’re interested in something or have a goal set that they haven’t accomplished. So why not stay. But first tell me something no one else knows about you. Its easier to get more comfortable with someone you know better.” She offered a faint smile with a shrug. Not a smirk but an actual smile. It wasn’t a big teeth shower but it was more than her usual strict straight expression or devious smirk. She was curious about him and she wanted him to stay to so she could find out why he found her so interesting to even bother striking a conversation. She wasn’t deaf to hear how besides some people finding him ‘odd’ but he caught the attention of quiet a few girls. He was attractive; Elisabetta wouldn’t deny that, so obviously he’d attract girls. But why would he bother with her when he had a group of girls already.
